Official calculatorAbout this benefit
The Entfernungspauschale ("Pendlerpauschale") lets you deduct the cost of commuting to work, whatever transport you use. You count €0.30 per kilometre of the one-way distance for each day you travelled to work, rising to €0.38 from the 21st kilometre. Over a full year this is often worth several hundred euros off your taxable income, claimed in your tax return. This page explains the deduction; it does not assess your individual tax case.
You may be eligible if
- You commute to a regular place of work.
- You count the one-way distance for each working day in the year.
- It is part of your Werbungskosten and claimed in a tax return.
