About this benefit

Grundsicherung im Alter und bei Erwerbsminderung tops up the income of people who have reached the statutory retirement age (or are permanently unable to work) and whose pension, income and savings are not enough to cover their needs. Like Bürgergeld it covers a standard rate plus reasonable housing costs, but it is administered by the Sozialamt. This page explains the benefit; it does not assess your individual entitlement.
